The Supreme Court conducted its initial examination of the cancellation lawsuit opened upon the application of the CHP on August 15th regarding the law that came into effect and was published in the Official Gazette on August 2nd.
AYM, which did not detect any deficiencies regarding the application, decided that the lawsuit will be discussed on its merits on a date to be determined later. 16 OUT OF 17 ARTICLES WERE REQUESTED TO BE CANCELLEDAfter the law came into effect, the CHP applied to the AYM on August 15th for the cancellation of 16 out of the 17 articles of the law and the suspension of its implementation. Following the application, CHP Deputy Group Chairman Gökhan Günaydın made a press statement in front of the Supreme Court, arguing that the articles they requested to be cancelled were completely contrary to animal rights, public interest, the fundamental aims and duties of the state, the right to life, the right to a healthy environment, the principle of protecting natural assets, and the impact of international agreements on domestic law.
