The driver who endangered traffic safety by drifting with his car at an intersection in Istanbul Başakşehir was caught thanks to footage captured by cameras. Görkem Can, whose identity was determined by the police teams' investigation, was fined 140,000 TL. The driver's license was suspended for 60 days, and his car was also banned from traffic.

HE DRIFTED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION
An incident that endangered traffic safety occurred in the Başakşehir district of Istanbul on October 11. At around 17:00, the driver of a car that arrived at the intersection where Sokullu Street and Hüdavendigar Street intersect in Başak Neighborhood began drifting with the vehicle. The dangerous maneuvers carried out by the driver at the intersection were captured on cameras. After footage of the incident reached security units, police teams took action.
POLICE EXAMINING THE FOOTAGE IDENTIFIED HIS IDENTITY
Teams from the Traffic Inspection Bureau Office of the Başakşehir District Police Department identified footage of drifting at the intersection during inspections they carried out on digital platforms. The teams, who launched an examination of the footage, investigated the driver's identity based on the car's license plate. As a result of the work carried out, it was determined that the person driving the car was Görkem Can. Police teams invited the driver to the Başakşehir District Police Department.
HE CONFIRMED THE PLACE AND DATE OF THE INCIDENT AT THE POLICE STATION
A meeting was held with Görkem Can, who was summoned to the police station, regarding the incident. It was stated that during the interview, the driver confirmed that the incident in which he drifted occurred on October 11 at around 17:00. Can also confirmed that the incident took place at the intersection of Sokullu Street and Hüdavendigar Street in Başak Neighborhood. Police teams initiated proceedings against the driver in line with the footage and the examinations carried out.

Traffic teams imposed an administrative sanction on the driver determined to have drifted under the Highway Traffic Law. Görkem Can was fined 140,000 TL under Article 67/1-d of the Highway Traffic Law. The sanction imposed on the driver was not limited to a fine alone. After the maneuvers that endangered traffic safety, proceedings were also carried out regarding his driver's license and car.
HIS DRIVER'S LICENSE WAS SUSPENDED FOR 60 DAYS
Police teams revoked Görkem Can's driver's license for 60 days, as he was determined to have drifted. The car the driver used during the dangerous maneuvers was banned from traffic. Thus, due to the drift he performed at the intersection, the driver both faced a high fine and temporarily lost his right to drive.
