Following the growth and critical inflation data announced by the U.S. Department of Commerce, gold markets are experiencing active hours. With the data coming in line with expectations, the gram of gold has fallen to levels of 7,140 lira.

The US gross domestic product (GDP) second estimate data for the April-June period, which markets eagerly awaited, along with the July Core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index, have been released. As the released data met expectations, gold prices followed a downward trend in global markets.

US ECONOMY GREW 1.5 PERCENT IN THE SECOND QUARTER

According to the US Department of Commerce data, the country's economy recorded a growth of 1.5 percent in the second quarter of this year, performing in line with market expectations.

CRITICAL CORE PCE DATA CAME IN LINE WITH EXPECTATIONS

In particular, the Core PCE data, which the US Federal Reserve (Fed) closely monitors as an inflation indicator and which directly affects gold prices, has also been clarified:

  • July Annual Core PCE: 3.3 percent
  • Market Expectation: 3.3 percent
  • Previous Data: 3.3 percent

SHARP DECLINE IN GRAM GOLD

Following the completion of the critical data flow, a rapid pullback occurred in gold prices. Gram gold, which started the day at 7,220 lira levels, declined with the release of the data and fell to 7,140 lira levels as of 16:00.
