The cry of the mother who lost her child in the flood broke hearts: I told you not to go

In Hatay, the cries of the mother of 19-year-old Deniz Hoşgel, who lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters, were heartbreaking. The grieving mother broke down in tears, saying, 'I told you not to go, my son, I told you not to trust your friends.' Deniz, who died at such a young age, was laid to rest in the neighborhood cemetery.

The heavy rain, which the meteorology department had warned about, negatively affected life in Hatay. In the Samandağ district, the Karaçay River in the Karaçay neighborhood overflowed after the heavy rainfall. The overflowing river collapsed the Samandağ-bound direction of the Karaçay Bridge, which connects the Samandağ and Antakya districts.

THE LIFELESS BODY OF 19-YEAR-OLD DENIZ WAS FOUND

During the collapse, 20-year-old Musa Paşa and 19-year-old Deniz Hoşgel, who were in a vehicle on the bridge, fell into the river and went missing. Numerous teams, including AFAD and Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Underwater Search and Rescue teams, were dispatched to the scene and continued search efforts. During the operations, the lifeless body of 19-year-old Deniz Hoşgel was found at the point where the Mediterranean Sea and the Orontes River meet.

THE MOTHER'S CRIES BROKE HEARTS

Deniz Hoşgel, who fell into the river, was swept away by the current, and whose lifeless body was found a day later, was buried in the Mağaracık District Cemetery. The mother, suffering the pain of losing her child, broke hearts with her words: 'You didn't listen to me, my son, I told you not to go and not to trust your friends.'
