The Dardanelles Strait has been closed to two-way transit vessel traffic due to tugboat-assisted intervention for a low-speed vessel.

The Dardanelles Strait was closed to two-way transit ship traffic due to a tugboat-assisted intervention on a vessel with low cruising speed.

The 274-meter tanker named "Zephyr Prosper," flying the flag of the Barbados Islands and heading from Russia to Izmit, experienced a drop in cruising speed in front of Eceabat due to the current in the strait.

SHIPS ARE INFORMED ABOUT THE SITUATION VIA RADIO ASSISTANCE

After the ship's captain reported the situation to the Dardanelles Strait Vessel Traffic Services, tugboats "Kurtarma-10," "Kurtarma-18," and "Kurtarma-20" belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety were dispatched to the area.

While other ships passing through the Dardanelles Strait are being informed about the situation via radio assistance, the strait was closed to two-way transit traffic due to the tugboat-assisted intervention on the vessel.
