Kazancı, for whom imprisonment of between 7 years 6 months and 15 years is sought, wanted to benefit from effective remorse at the first hearing in Konya. The trial of Ahmet Kazancı, one of the organization's so-called responsible figures who was caught in the border region during the operation conducted by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) against the terrorist organization ISIS, has begun in Konya. Kazancı, for whom imprisonment of 7 years 6 months to 15 years is sought, said in court that he wanted to benefit from effective remorse.
3 YEARS WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION IN AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN
Ahmet Kazancı, living in Konya, joined ISIS and operated within the armed terrorist organization for about 3 years between 2023 and 2026. As a result of the work carried out by MİT, Kazancı, who was determined to have received training and carried out activities within the organization, was caught in an operation organized after it was established that he entered Turkey illegally last June, in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari. Ahmet Kazancı was arrested by the court he was brought before in Konya after his interrogation was completed. In the indictment prepared about Ahmet Kazancı and accepted by the Konya 2nd High Criminal Court, it was stated that Kazancı operated within the ISIS armed terrorist organization for about 3 years between 2023 and 2026. In the indictment, which stated that the defendant joined the organization's structure in Afghanistan and Pakistan, carried out activities in camps and cell houses belonging to the organization, carried out armed activities, and took part at a responsible level within the hierarchical structure of the organization, imprisonment from 7 years 6 months to 15 years was sought for Kazancı on the charge of "membership in an armed terrorist organization."
HE CROSSED THE BORDER WITH SMUGGLERS AND MULES
The first hearing of the case opened against Ahmet Kazancı was held at the Konya 2nd High Criminal Court. Making his defense at the hearing, Kazancı explained that in 2023 he went directly to join ISIS, saying, "First I went to Iran, and then to Pakistan. There I was taken to a base area in the mountainous region. After a while I went down to the city and began working in the media field. I was archiving posts in a channel on Telegram. After a while I was taken up to the mountain again. Later I learned that Abu Yasir had been captured. I wanted to escape from the organization and someone there helped me. Through smugglers I arranged in Iran, I crossed with mules to the Yüksekova district of Hakkari and was caught here," he said. Throughout his defense, Kazancı said several times that he wanted to benefit from effective remorse and that he was remorseful.
The court panel decided on the continuation of the defendant's detention and postponed the hearing to a later date.
