In a statement made by the DEM Party, it was stated, "The DEM Party İmralı Delegation will apply to the Ministry of Justice on Monday to hold the second meeting with Mr. Öcalan. We expect the second visit to take place shortly after the delegation applies."
WHAT HAPPENED?
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, during his party's group meeting on October 22, called on Abdullah Öcalan to "apply for the right to hope and speak at the DEM Party Group Meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey," on the condition that he disbands the organization. DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan responded to Bahçeli's call by saying, "As co-chairs, we want to meet with Mr. Öcalan to contribute to the peace of this country." The DEM Party had applied to the Ministry of Justice on the same day to meet with Öcalan. A month later, the Ministry of Justice responded positively to the DEM Party's application, and Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder met with Öcalan on İmralı Island on December 28. Following that, Önder, Buldan, and Ahmet Türk, who joined the delegation, began to meet with political parties. To date, the delegation has met with MHP, the Future Party, the AKP, Saadet, CHP, YRP, and many other parties.
