In an operation organized for bribery and bid-rigging crimes targeting Mersin's Yenişehir Municipality, 1 of the suspects detained was a deputy mayor, and 12 were arrested. According to information obtained, under the coordination of the Mersin Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Provincial Police Department carried out an operation on April 10 for corruption, bribery, and extortion crimes in a tender related to the CHP-led Yenişehir Municipality. In the operation, 33 suspects, including a deputy mayor, department heads, municipal personnel, and company owners, were apprehended.
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
The statements of the captured suspects were taken at the police department. Two of the suspects whose statements were taken at the police department were released. Of the suspects referred to the judiciary, 19 were released with judicial control conditions by the court. 12 suspects, including the deputy mayor, department heads, and company owners, were arrested.
It was learned that the investigation continues within the scope of the operation.
