Syria's ousted leader Bashar al-Assad, his brother Maher al-Assad, and his cousin Najeeb al-Attif have been sentenced to death by a Syrian court. The death sentence was handed down to Assad, who fled to Russia on December 8, 2024, for 'war crimes' and 'crimes against humanity'.
