Protests continue by 500 miners who locked themselves in the Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant in the Nallıhan district of Ankara against its privatization. After meeting with the ministry on Monday, the workers began a march towards Ankara when the ministry refused to abandon the privatization.

TENDER POSTPONED

While the miners were marching towards the Ministry of Treasury and Finance in Ankara, the Privatization Administration made a statement announcing that the sale tender has been postponed.

According to the statement, the deadline for submitting final bids, previously announced as December 4, 2024, has been extended to March 4, 2025. The reason for the postponement was announced as the examination of the workers' demands.

The statement said, "The tender announcement for the privatization of the Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant and the mining areas supplying coal to the plant was published in the Official Gazette dated 17.09.2024, and the deadline for submitting final bids was set as 04.12.2024.

Our administration is showing due diligence to ensure that the privatization process is conducted effectively, efficiently, transparently, and in accordance with the law. Taking into account the issues raised in the public domain;

-The subjects of the tender will be reviewed and reassessed,

-The demands of our employees will be examined and evaluated,

the deadline for submitting final bids in the said tender has been extended to Tuesday, March 4, 2025, until 18:00," it was stated.
