The statement given by Doctor Nurettin Demirkol on August 26 as a witness has emerged within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the death of the community leader known as “Süleymancılar” and former Minister of Transport Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, who was detained on charges of 'false testimony'.
“AS FAR AS I KNOW, HE ONLY HAD HYPERTENSION. HE HAD NO OTHER CONDITIONS” In his statement as a 'witness', Demirkol said he did not know who made the emergency call on the date of the incident. Demirkol stated that he knew Arif Ahmet Denizolgun because he had examined him several times, and that he knew the person named Alihan Kuriş from the press.
Demirkol said, "As far as I know, he only had hypertension. He had no other conditions. I had never been to the farm except on the day of the incident. I didn't even know he had a farm. I don't know the persons named R. K. and A. S. at all. M. B. used to live in the apartment building where I previously lived. That's why I only know him by name. Other than that, I don't know if these people worked with Arif Ahmet Denizolgun. Since a lot of time has passed since the incident, I don't remember who called me. I don't remember the exact time, but it was dark, it was night. I don't remember exactly what they said when they called me. I went to the farm alone. They probably sent me a location. However, I don't remember who sent the location and how, because a lot of time has passed since the incident."
“WHEN I ARRIVED, RIGOR MORTIS HAD ALREADY SET IN ON THE DECEASED” Regarding the moments when he first saw Denizolgun after his death upon arriving at the scene, Demirkol said, "When I arrived, the deceased was in a sitting position on a sofa that was like a three-seater, but he had slipped a bit, in a half-lying position. I don't remember exactly what he was wearing. But it wasn't formal attire. When I arrived, rigor mortis had already set in on the deceased. Consequently, there were lividity marks. I didn't see any bruising indicative of assault or any scratches on his body. I didn't see any blood on his face or anywhere on his body."
Arif Ahmet Denizolgun “I MIGHT HAVE EVALUATED THE DARK-COLORED FLUID COMING FROM THE STOMACH DUE TO DEATH AS BLOOD” Regarding the day of the incident, Demirkol said, "On the day of the incident, I might have evaluated the dark-colored fluid coming from the stomach due to death as blood. I am not a forensic medicine specialist. I signed the documents given to us on the day of the incident as they were. It might have been recorded incorrectly in the reports. There was definitely no blood on the deceased's face. There were post-mortem lividity marks on the front of his body. However, I don't remember if there were any bruises on the face area. When I arrived, the deceased was in a sitting position on the sofa. He was in the same place when the police arrived. Later, the police lowered the deceased to the floor. I don't remember if the prosecutor had arrived by then. Because there were many civilians besides the uniformed personnel, I don't know who was police and who was prosecutor. When I went to the farm, I remember that Murat B. and a foreign national were there. Apart from them, there is no one I can say 'these people were also at the farm'. While we were there, people came and went. However, I don't know their names. I couldn't identify them even if I saw them. I don't remember if Ahmet G., Ahmet Y., and Alihan Kuriş came to the scene. When I went to the scene, I only said that the person had died. I didn't make an assessment like suspect. I don't know who called the medical team and the police and at what time. I can't remember the exact time I went to the scene. However, approximately one hour after I arrived, police teams came to the scene. These teams later transferred the file to a higher team. There were even conversations about taking the deceased to Beykoz State Hospital. However, later, the prosecutor who arrived towards the morning said the person would be sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute in Bakırköy. While I was inside the farm on the day of the incident, I gave a statement to the prosecutor. The statement I gave with the heat of the moment is accurate. However, I am not sure about the part where I said blood came from his mouth. Perhaps that day, I might have interpreted the fluid coming from the stomach due to death as blood."
“I DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING BECAUSE A LOT OF TIME HAS PASSED SINCE THE INCIDENT” Demirkol said, "I have heard the names of the persons named Recep O., Yusuf B., and Ahmet S. But I don't know them. I know the person named Hasan E. by name; I would recognize him if I saw him. However, I have no familiarity with him. There was someone named Fatih in the apartment building where I used to live. But I don't know if he is Fatih Ö. I know Mustafa Ç. by name because he comes and goes to the hospital. I don't know if it's the same Mustafa Çelik. On the day of the incident, I was at my residence in Kısıklı. I have no information regarding any of the questions you have asked. I don't remember anything because a lot of time has passed since the incident."
“I HAVE NO PRIVATE PATIENT-DOCTOR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE DECEASED” Continuing his statement, Demirkol said, "I have no information regarding this matter. I didn't even know the deceased had a farm or went there. I don't know anything about what goes on within the community. I am not aware of the statements you have mentioned. I don't know if Alihan Kuriş has declared his leadership. The body of the deceased was taken by the police. As far as I know, the body was not brought to Hisar Hospital. I know that on the day of the incident, the body was removed from the farm and taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute. In fact, when the police said I needed to go, I also went to the Forensic Medicine Institute in a vehicle which I don't remember now. I don't remember who else came. There was a crowd at the farm when the body was being taken out. However, I don't know who was among them. I don't know how many of us went to Forensic Medicine with the police. I don't remember if Ahmet Gökçen was at the scene. A lot of time has passed since the incident. When I went to the Forensic Medicine Institute, I didn't converse with anyone. The body was taken directly from the farm to the Forensic Medicine Institute by the police. I accompanied them. I don't remember who else was there. It was definitely not taken to Hisar Hospital before that. However, I don't know if it was taken there afterwards. I have no information on this matter. I don't know why it was written this way in the report. I was sleepless and tired due to the hour of the incident. I have no private patient-doctor relationship with the deceased. There is no name I can report as a witness to the incident. I don't remember anything at all because a lot of time has passed since the incident."
Arif Ahmet Denizolgun TRANSCRIPT OF THE CALL MADE TO 155 TEN YEARS AGO HAS BEEN OBTAINED: HIS STATEMENTS AND HIS TESTIMONY TO THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE DID NOT MATCH On the other hand, within the scope of the investigation, the transcript of the call made to the 155 emergency hotline ten years ago regarding Denizolgun's death has also been obtained."}
In the minutes, it was recorded that the first phone call took place at 00:29, and after the 155 operator answered the phone, the caller introduced himself with the words "I am Doctor Nurettin Demirkol." Demirkol then told the operator that "a patient for whom he is a family physician had suddenly passed away." It was also recorded in the minutes that Demirkol said, "I have a patient for whom I am a family physician; he has passed away suddenly. The government physician needs to see him. Possibly the cause of death is unknown; the judge and prosecutor need to see him." The minutes further stated that when Demirkol was asked for the address, he said he did not know the exact address, whereupon the operator told him that since it might fall under the jurisdiction of the gendarmerie, he should "call 156," and the phone call ended.
The minutes also noted that Demirkol called 155 again a few minutes later, saying, "I called a little while ago, Doctor Nurettin Demirkol, regarding someone who passed away." He stated that he had spoken with the gendarmerie, but they told him the area was under police jurisdiction, so he requested help from 155 again. The minutes recorded that in response to the operator's question "Is there a suspicious death case here?", Demirkol replied, "Suspicious, an unexpected sudden death, unexpected, suspicious sudden death."
