In the Güce district of Giresun, a minivan rolled down a steep slope and tumbled onto the lower road. Recep Yıldız, who was injured in the accident, recounted the terrifying incident: "It was evening. I called my friend. I said, 'Bring me your car, I have some cargo to take to my parents' house.' We picked it up, loaded it, and unloaded the cargo. On the way back, the car couldn't take the turn. The driver, Rahmi, said, 'Recep abi, we're going,' and the moment he said that, we rolled off the cliff with the car."
In the Güce district of Giresun, Recep Yıldız (59), one of the two people injured when a minivan tumbled down a steep slope and rolled onto a lower road, described his terrifying moments. Yıldız said, 'It was evening, I called my friend. I said, "Bring me your car, I have a load to take to my parents' house." We took it, unloaded the cargo. While returning, the car couldn't make the turn. The driver, Rahmi, said, "Recep, we're going," and at that moment, we rolled down the cliff with the car.'
MINIVAN TUMBLED DOWN THE SLOPE
The accident occurred the previous day at the Güner locality of Sarıyar village in the Güce district. The minivan with license plate 28 AAG 008, driven by Rahmi Kuru (40) who lost control, rolled down a steep slope covered with tea and hazelnut gardens. Tumbling approximately 400 meters, the minivan stopped on a road passing beneath the slope. During the first roll, the driver was thrown from the window, along with passenger Recep Yıldız, both sustaining injuries. Upon notification, health teams were dispatched to the scene. After initial treatment, the injured were taken to the hospital. Kuru and Yıldız were discharged following completion of their treatment.
ACCIDENT MOMENT CAPTURED ON CAMERA
The accident, which reduced the minivan to scrap, was recorded by those on the opposite slope using a mobile phone camera. The footage shows the minivan tumbling multiple times from the slope to the lower road, with bystanders witnessing the crash in panic.
'RECEP, WE'RE GOING'
Yıldız, who suffered a broken leg and injuries to various parts of his body, recounted the accident and its aftermath. Stating they miraculously survived the crash, Yıldız said, 'It was evening, I called my friend. I said, "Bring me your car, I have a load to take to my parents' house." We took it, unloaded the cargo. While returning, the car couldn't make the turn. The driver, Rahmi, said, "Recep, we're going," and at that moment, we rolled down the cliff. We don't know if the brakes failed or what happened. Rahmi was thrown about 30 meters, and I was thrown about 200 meters. At that moment, I prayed, saying, "Thank God." Thank God we survived. It was a miracle we survived that crash. But to prevent other accidents, we want our road to be made safer. We want whatever is necessary done for this road. It happened because the road is very narrow. They didn't let us build a wall. No solution has been found for this road. We survived this accident; we didn't die, but others might.'
