THE FIRST HALF WAS VERY COMPETITIVE
In the first period of the match, Japan took the lead with baskets, especially from mid-range. The crescent-stars tried to respond with points from under the basket and outside shots. Japan finished the first period, which they led for a large part, with a score of 20-16.
In the second period, Turkey tried to reduce the gap with points produced especially from the painted area. The national team equalized at 20-20 with a basket from Alperi Onar in the 12th minute. After that, Japan took control of the game with consecutive three-point shots, and in the 19th minute, Yamamoto's three-pointer increased the gap to 11: 41-30. Although Turkey tried to close the gap in the remaining time, Japan went to the locker room leading 41-35.
THE FAIRIES OF THE RIM RETURNED IN THE SECOND HALF
Turkey, which went to the locker room trailing 41-35 after a 5-0 run at the end of the first half, started the second half with an 11-0 run with a basket from Beren Burke in the 23rd minute, taking the lead: 41-46. After that, Japan, hitting consecutive three-pointers, regained the lead with a 9-0 run thanks to Takada's outside shot in the 25th minute: 50-46. Following this run, the crescent-stars increased the tempo, and with Sevgi Uzun's three-pointer in the 29th minute, they took the lead again with a 6-0 run: 50-52. The national team entered the final quarter leading 55-54 with a basket from Alperi Onar from outside.
In the final quarter, supported by the fans, Turkey achieved a 6-0 run with Alperi Onar's layup in the 33rd minute: 54-61. After that, Japan reduced the gap to 2 points with scores from the painted area at times. Turkey made no mistakes in the final part of the fiercely contested match and won the game 75-67.
THE CRESCENT-STARS CLAIMED THEIR SECOND VICTORY
With this result, Turkey achieved its second victory in the group in its third match and will face Australia in the organization on Sunday.
