Following the death of a 16-year-old youth in Batman, which escalated into a feud that culminated in the killing of 3 people in a cemetery, the Direk family has broken their silence. Reacting to the other side's calls for "peace," İrfan Direk stated that they had been threatened since the Hajj period, that peace envoys were rejected, and that the cemetery incident was a planned ambush, saying, "They shot my brother and our two young sons-in-law, and while they were on the ground, they shot them in the head again."

THE FEUD BEGAN WITH THE DEATH OF 16-YEAR-OLD HASAN HÜSEYİN GÖREGE According to the claim; the feud between the two families began with an incident that took place on May 16, 2026, due to a 'matter involving a girl'. In the incident, 16-year-old Hasan Hüseyin Görege lost his life after being stabbed in the leg. Within the scope of the investigation, T. Direk, the son of İrfan Direk, was arrested and sent to prison.
THREE PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE CEMETERY ATTACK The feud that started between the two families came back to the agenda with an armed attack that took place in the cemetery on July 26, 2026. In the armed incident that broke out between the two families at the Batman Asri Cemetery, Mehmet Direk, his son Ercan Direk, and his nephew Ebubekir Direk from the Direk family lost their lives. Two people from the Görege family were injured and taken to the hospital where they were admitted to intensive care.
AFTER THE GÖREGE FAMILY, THE DİREK FAMILY ALSO SPOKE Following the Görege family, İrfan Direk from the Direk family, one of the parties to the incident, also spoke to Hatice Türkan, the Editor-in-Chief of Batman Sonsöz.
İrfan Direk, the brother of Mehmet Direk who lost his life in the attack, the uncle of Ercan Direk, and the father of Ebubekir Direk, began to describe the process by stating that when the first incident occurred, he was in Hajj to perform his religious duties and felt great sadness when he received the news: "Nobody would have wanted such an incident to happen. When the incident occurred, I was in Hajj to perform my religious duties. Touching its wall, I felt sorry for the child who died in the first incident in the Kaaba, and I performed Umrah on his behalf. I wished patience for his parents by approaching the wall of the Kaaba. This incident is not entirely a blood feud. The children don't know each other; there is no debt or credit between them. The reason the other side tells the story differently is entirely due to a psychology of guilt."
"THEY ATTACKED OUR HOUSE WITH 5 CARS AND THREATENED OUR WIVES AND DAUGHTERS VIA COLOMBIAN AND SYRIAN LINES" Stating that while he was on the Hajj pilgrimage, the other side began to harbor a grudge and attacks against his family began, Direk said: "While I was in Hajj, on the first day they attacked our house with 5 cars. If it weren't for the state officials, they would have done what they did in the cemetery that day. We moved our women and children out of the house. Since that day, they have severely insulted our wives and daughters over social media, through their relatives and cousins. They called via lines registered to Colombians and Syrians. They threatened to kidnap my wife, my daughters, and even my 9-year-old daughter. They went up to the roofs to watch our house, gave money to children, and had them take our photos. Every night they fired guns in front of our door and harassed us on motorcycles. Out of respect for their grief, we didn't go to the barber for 2-3 months; we called the barber to the house. We didn't go shopping, to weddings, or to condolence visits. I have 56 threat messages they sent to my wife, my nephews, and our daughters-in-law."
"THEY REJECTED ALL THE ENVOYS WE SENT FOR PEACE" Stating that they used prominent figures of the region as intermediaries to end the feud and prevent bloodshed, İrfan Direk reported that the other side did not accept this: "We sent the HÜDA PAR Provincial Chairman, Hacı Faris Bey, Niyazi Demir Bey, scholars, and hodjas many times. His father and brothers rejected all of them. They told us, 'Either you will bring our child back to life, or you will vacate 6 houses and give them to us, or you will give us 3 of your young men, and we will kill them ourselves.' I said, 'If you want Sharia, let's go to Sharia; if you want customs and traditions, let's go to customs and traditions; if you say state, let's go to the state; my child has been caught, let him serve his sentence.' They did not accept. The neighborhood headman, the imam, and the District Police Chief also rebelled against them firing guns and cursing in front of our door every day."
THE BEGINNING OF THE FIRST INCIDENT: THEY CAME TO OUR DOOR AND BEAT OUR CHILD Sharing all the details of how the first incident started, İrfan Direk claimed that his son was attacked for no reason: "While my imprisoned son Talha was talking to the daughter of a family we help through an association in the neighborhood, Hasan Hüseyin Görege took the girl's phone, cursed at my son, and called him to a meeting. When my child didn't go to the place he was called to, during the festival in the park, 8 people, along with the girls, came to our door. When the girl said, 'This is Talha Direk,' they started beating the child. In the fight, they had knuckledusters and a knife. After the stabbing, they said that the police couldn't enter before 112 arrived. They say we waited 40 minutes for him to die, that's a lie! My aunt applied a tourniquet to his leg with her own belt, and my brother's daughter-in-law took off her headscarf and tied it to the wound. We provided humane intervention until the ambulance arrived. Should we have thanked the people who came to our door and beat our child?"
"IF IT WASN'T AN AMBUSH, WHAT BUSINESS DID THEY HAVE AT MY GRAVE WITH A MOTORCYCLE TEAM AND TWO VEHICLES?" Referring to the family ties and the planned raid in the cemetery, Direk recounted the incident with these words: "Ahmet Görege is my aunt's cousin, but we have never even sat down and had tea together in our lives. When the news of the grave being disturbed came, my brother Mehmet Direk couldn't stay still; he went to the cemetery saying, 'I'll go read a Fatiha and come back.' Their grave is in the north, ours is in the south; there are 500-600 meters between them. If it wasn't an ambush, what business did they have at my grave with a motorcycle team and two vehicles?
"THEY SHOT MY FLEEING NEPHEW FROM BEHIND AND SHOT HIM IN THE HEAD" Ahmet Görege said to my brother, 'Give us Ebubekir.' When my brother didn't give him up, they opened fire. They shot my fleeing nephew from behind and then shot him in the head. They shot my brother and my other nephew, who were lying on the ground, in the head again. They fired 13 bullets. When I called Ömer Görege, he told me, 'I have taken my revenge.' They celebrated this massacre on social media."

Their weddings were going to be a month later, their trousseaus were ready; their fiancées are currently staying at our house. They killed my brother, who had the old mosque in our neighborhood demolished and built a new one with his own means. Now they come out to the press and say, 'We want peace.' With what face do you want peace? Will my brother, my son, and my nephew whom you murdered come back? Unlike them, we do not seek our own justice.
