The suspect Serhat Altun and his accomplice, who were detained in connection with the armed murder of Can Polat—the close bodyguard of social media influencer Dilan Polat and cousin of her husband Engin Polat—in Alaçatı, have been referred to the courthouse. Due to the discovery of an Istanbul link in the murder, the case has been transferred to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
A hot development occurred in the investigation into the death of Can Polat, the bodyguard and driver of social media phenomenon Dilan Polat, who is also the cousin of her husband Engin Polat, in an armed attack in front of a hotel in İzmir Alaçatı. While the murder suspect Serhat Altun, who was taken into custody, and another suspect with him were referred to the courthouse, the investigation file was transferred to Istanbul.
REFERRAL UNDER EXTENSIVE SECURITY MEASURES
Following the murder in Çeşme district, the main suspect Serhat Altun, caught by police forces, and the other suspect considered to be connected to the incident, have completed their questioning processes at the police station. The 2 suspects, brought to the hospital under extensive security measures for a health check, were referred to judicial authorities after their procedures.
INVESTIGATION MOVED TO ISTANBUL
A significant change of authority was made in the multi-faceted investigation into the murder of Can Polat. As a result of the examinations, due to the main branch of the armed attack and the suspects' connections being centered in Istanbul, the investigation file from Çeşme was sent to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. In the incident, which will be coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office from now on, the suspects' proceedings at the courthouse are ongoing.
