In the People's Council elections held in Syria, 119 members of parliament were determined. In the council, which is supposed to have 140 members, additional elections will be held for the remaining 21 seats.

It was announced that 119 members of parliament were determined in the People's Assembly elections held in 50 electoral districts across 11 provinces in Syria, following the Bashar al-Assad regime.

For the first time, the people of Syria went to the polls after the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime. The spokesperson of the High Election Committee, Nevvar Necme, shared the election results with the public at a press conference held at the People's Assembly building in the capital, Damascus.

HERE ARE THE ELECTION RESULTS

Necme stated that 119 members of parliament were determined as a result of the elections, noting that there should be a total of 140 members of parliament, and that the remaining 21 seats would be filled in elections to be held after a political solution is achieved in the districts of Aynularab in Aleppo, Raqqa, Hasakah, and Suwayda.

Necme mentioned that among the elected members of parliament, there are 6 women and 2 Christian representatives, adding that the one-third quota to be appointed by President Ahmed Shara would be independent of the voter body.
