It was determined that 14-year-old Murat İmrağ, who was killed with a gun at the house he went to in Sakarya for his sister's birthday, was shot at close range. The suspect Y.D.S. first claimed it was suicide, then was arrested. The father alleged that it was made to look like an accident.
Murat İmrağ, 14, who lost his life after being shot with a gun at his friend's house where he had gone to celebrate his sister's birthday in Sakarya, was found to have been shot from a distance of 60-70 centimeters. Grieving father Özkan İmrağ said, "Murat was found not in the living room but in the bedroom, sitting on the couch, shot with a single bullet to the forehead. First they said suicide, now they are trying to get away with it by dressing it up as an accident."
HE WAS THERE TO CELEBRATE HIS SISTER'S BIRTHDAY The incident occurred on Friday, July 24, during daylight hours, at a house in Ahmediye Neighborhood. According to the information obtained, 14-year-old Murat İmrağ, who went to the house belonging to the grandfather of siblings Y.D.S. (16) and Y.S. (16), friends of his sister N. İmrağ (20), to celebrate her birthday, lost his life after being shot in the head with a licensed gun found in the house.
"SUICIDE" WAS CLAIMED, BUT A DISTANCE OF OVER HALF A METER WAS DETERMINED Following the incident, within the scope of the investigation launched, the suspect Y.D.S., whose statement was taken, claimed that İmrağ had committed suicide. However, in the detailed work carried out by the crime scene investigation teams, it was determined that the gun was fired at İmrağ's head from a distance of 60-70 centimeters. After the evidence obtained, the suspect Y.D.S., who was taken into custody, was arrested and sent to prison by the judicial authorities. In the examinations, it was learned that the gun in question belonged to Y.D.S.'s grandfather, a retired police officer.
On the other hand, footage of Murat İmrağ, who lost his life, taken at his own home shortly before the incident emerged. In the images, the 14-year-old child is seen coming down the stairs with a phone in his hand, while the arrested suspect Y.D.S. is seen in the kitchen.
"MY SON WAS FOUND SHOT WITH A SINGLE BULLET TO THE FOREHEAD" Özkan İmrağ, the grieving father of Murat İmrağ, who lost his life, said, "The kids were friends from taekwondo for 5-6 years. They lived in Istanbul, then moved to Sakarya. Of course, after moving to Sakarya, the kids' contact didn't break. They used to come to us, sometimes our kids went to them. Recently, my daughter had a birthday. The girls messaged her. They called and invited the kids, saying 'Let's celebrate your birthday here.' The kids took the bus and went. That morning, my daughter woke them up at 11:40. Y.D.S. and Murat İmrağ were staying in the same room, and my daughter and their daughter were in another room. It was their grandfather's house. The grandfather and grandmother were out of town at the time. After waking up, my daughter went downstairs to prepare breakfast. She wanted to send someone to buy bread. Y.D.S and my son Murat said they were playing games on the phone in the living room. One or two minutes after she went downstairs, they heard a gunshot from the floor where Y.D.S and Murat were. They ran upstairs. Murat was found not in the living room but in the bedroom, sitting on the couch, shot with a single bullet to the forehead. The boy said then, 'I was in the bathroom, Murat committed suicide.' His uncle, a police officer living downstairs, was told this. Meanwhile, health units arrived and said our child had lost his life when they came. The process went on like this," he said.
HE CONFESSED WHEN THE DISTANCE WAS REVEALED Stating that the suspect Y.D.S. initially reflected the incident as a "suicide" after the event, İmrağ noted the following:
"Later, as information developed, it emerged that our child was killed by being shot from a distance of 60-70 centimeters. In that case, Y.D.S. admitted that he did it, that he shot him himself. First they said suicide, now they are trying to get away with it by dressing it up as an accident. I don't find a problem with the child; the family is being irresponsible. We sent our children to them as a trust. Their children also stayed with us. On the days they stayed with us, we didn't even go to the grocery store because they were entrusted to us. Four kids can do anything. But they let four children sleep in a house where there were two guns. The grandmother and grandfather weren't home. Two guns, 20 bullets, full magazine. They let them sleep in that house. I don't know what happened and what didn't. They killed our son deliberately and intentionally."
"WE ARE TIRED OF RETIRED POLICE GUNS" İmrağ, demanding that those responsible receive the necessary punishment, said, "We want the responsible parties, especially the owner of the gun, to be arrested. They said he was old and sick, and released him on parole. I want this to be emphasized. Because they are trying to dress up the case as an accident. Everyone is trying to save their own child. We are tired of such negligence. How many more children will we lose? Let what happened to Murat not happen to someone else. We are tired of retired police guns; what is a 70-year-old man going to do with a gun? Why don't you put it in a locked safe? What business does a gun have where children can reach it? The child had fooled around with guns before. He would take them and go; there are many photos of him. There is negligence here. What business does a 15-year-old have with a gun? This was bound to happen, and it happened to our child."
