CHAOS IN THE TERMINALS
In the footage captured, hundreds of passengers are seen experiencing great panic amid the echoing sounds of heavy gunfire inside the terminal.
Moments were captured on camera showing passengers trying to escape from armed cartel members, desperately leaving their luggage and personal belongings behind to seek refuge in safe areas.
The terrifying moments when people fled the airport in panic quickly went viral on social media.
FLIGHTS SUSPENDED, PUBLIC BUILDINGS TARGETED
Simultaneously with the airport assault, public buildings and strategic locations also came under attack from cartel members. All flights at Guadalajara Airport were suspended for security reasons, and a large number of military units were deployed to the area.
Authorities reported that operations were ongoing to control the security crisis at the airport and its surroundings, while the events spread across the country. According to footage of the violent incidents, Puerto Vallarta appeared to be in flames.
