The heavy rain warning issued by the Meteorology Department days ago took effect in Istanbul. The downpour that started in the morning hours quickly caused flooding across the city, while the Harem Beach Road in Üsküdar turned into a lake. Due to rainwater accumulating around Haydarpaşa Port, drivers struggled to proceed in traffic.
After warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology and the Istanbul Governor's Office, the heavy rain that affected the megacity from the morning hours negatively impacted daily life. While floods and inundations occurred in many parts of the city, some sections of Harem Coastal Road in Üsküdar were also covered with rainwater.
DRIVERS EXPERIENCED DIFFICULT MOMENTS
Especially in the coastal area where Haydarpaşa Port is located, drivers had to proceed cautiously with their vehicles due to the accumulation of rainwater. The puddles on the road slowed down traffic flow, and vehicle queues occasionally formed in the region.
TEAMS MOBILIZED TO DRAIN THE WATER
Following the floods caused by the heavy rain, municipal teams initiated work in the area. The teams, who drained the accumulated water by opening manhole covers, put in intense effort to restore normal traffic flow on Harem Coastal Road.
METEOROLOGY HAD WARNED
After the General Directorate of Meteorology's warning of heavy downpours for the Marmara Region, rainfall increased its impact across Istanbul from the morning hours. Puddles formed on streets and avenues in many districts of the city, especially in Üsküdar, and floods occurred at some points. Authorities asked citizens to be cautious against floods and not to go into traffic unless necessary.
