Zekiye Kırca and her daughters Burcu and Burçin Kırca, who lost their lives after being swept away by floodwaters while trying to save their father who had fallen into a creek in the Görele district of Giresun, were sent off on their final journey. After the funeral prayer held for the mother and her two daughters at the Hasan Ağa Mosque in Görele, the bodies were laid to rest with tears in the family cemetery in the Hamzalı village.
Zekiye Kırca and her children Burcu and Burçin Kırca, who lost their lives after being swept away by floodwaters when Zıva Creek overflowed in the Görele district of Giresun, were sent off on their final journey amid tears. Tears flowed like a flood at the sorrowful funeral ceremony of the mother and her daughters, who died while trying to save the father.
The heavy rainfall effective on the foothills of Sis Mountain in Giresun caused a great disaster. As the water level of Zıva Creek suddenly rose due to the rain, the Kırca family, who were having a picnic by the creek, suddenly found themselves in the middle of the floodwaters.
THEY LOST THEIR LIVES TRYING TO SAVE THEIR FATHER
Father Mehmet Kırca was the first to be caught in the current. His wife Zekiye Kırca (55) and his daughters Burcu and Burçin Kırca made a move to pull their father out of the water. While father Mehmet Kırca managed to get to the shore on his own, the mother and her two daughters, who tried to save him, were swept away by the fiercely flowing floodwaters and disappeared.
PAINFUL TOLL IN SEARCH EFFORTS
The approximately 80-person search and rescue team dispatched to the region upon the notification encountered a painful scene:
- First, the lifeless body of Burcu Kırca, one of the sisters, was reached.
- The body of the other sibling, Burçin Kırca, was found 25 kilometers away from where she was swept away, at Çavuşlu Beach where the creek flows into the sea.
- The lifeless body of mother Zekiye Kırca was recovered the next morning near the fish pool in the Kırıklı village area.
A PAINFUL FAREWELL IN GÖRELE
The funeral prayer for the mother and her two daughters who lost their lives was held after the Friday prayer at Hasan Ağa Mosque in the Görele town center. At the funeral, the grieving father Mehmet Kırca, who survived by a hair's breadth, and his sons Okan and Ogün Kırca could barely stand. The helplessness of the father shedding tears for his wife and children deeply moved everyone's hearts.
After the funeral prayer, the bodies of Zekiye, Burcu, and Burçin Kırca were laid to rest with tears in the family cemetery in the Hamzalı village of the district. Giresun Governor Mustafa Koç, Special Provincial Administration Secretary General Tolga Erener, relatives of the grieving family, and many district residents attended the funeral ceremony.
