While the repercussions of the condolence tent set up for terrorist organization members in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari and the controversial statements of DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları continue, a striking statement came from BBP leader Mustafa Destici.
Mustafa Destici, Chairman of the Grand Unity Party (BBP), made striking statements regarding the process carried out with the goal of a "Terror-Free Turkey." Destici emphasized that ending terrorism is as vital as protecting the rule of law, state authority, and national values.
BBP Leader Mustafa Destici evaluated the latest developments within the scope of the "Terror-Free Turkey" process and issued important warnings to the public. Destici stated that the political sensitivity displayed with the understanding of 'let the process not be harmed' has been turned into a perception of 'immunity' by some circles, and noted that this situation could create a dangerous ground for tension.
"IMPUDENCE AND PROVOCATION CANNOT BE NORMALIZED" Drawing attention to the escalation of disrespect towards the common values of the state and the nation, Destici emphasized that legal rules should not be relaxed: "While aiming for the silencing of weapons and the end of terrorism; impudence, provocation, and a language of defiance towards the common values of the state and the nation are gradually being normalized. It is unacceptable to open the rule of law, state authority, and the nation's common values to debate under the pretext of 'let the process not be harmed.'"
In the Yüksekova district of Hakkari, a condolence tent was set up for members of the terrorist organization, and DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları had made controversial statements. "NO ONE IN THIS COUNTRY..." Reacting particularly to the steps of some circles affiliated with the DEM Party, such as the booing of the National Anthem, attacks on the flag, and commemoration meetings that legitimize members of the terrorist organization, Destici said, "No one in this country is guilty for being a DEM member; but they are also not above the law for being a DEM member!" and stated that public order must be maintained decisively.
"THE LINE BETWEEN DIALOGUE AND LEGITIMACY MUST BE CLEARLY PRESERVED" The BBP Leader criticized the efforts of individuals involved in bloody acts in the past to generate political legitimacy, pointing out that the perception of impunity is one of the biggest security threats: "The state's acceptance of the terrorist organization's leader as a counterpart at the end of the counter-terrorism struggle does not grant legitimacy to past murders or acts of violence. On the contrary, the state's duty is to keep the line between 'dialogue' and 'legitimacy' extremely clear."
"THE PEACE OF THE NATION CANNOT BE SACRIFICED IN THE NAME OF PEACE" Warning that every violation ignored to preserve the process could lead to greater social fractures in the future, Destici concluded his statement with the following words: "A 'Terror-Free Turkey' is not only about the silencing of weapons; it is also about making the authority of the state, the common values of the nation, and the supremacy of law indisputable. The sovereign rights of the Republic of Turkey cannot be weakened for the sake of the process; the peace and unity of the nation cannot be sacrificed in the name of peace!"
