DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit reacted to Emre Cuşan, who appeared on stage at a festival in Ankara Keçiören wearing a costume of Cem Ersever, who is associated with JİTEM and unresolved murders, and said, “I was going to bring a white Toros today, but there were none left.” Koçyiğit called for an immediate investigation into the event. Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Pervin Buldan also stated, “We will follow up.”
DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit called for an investigation into the expressions used by a person who took the stage dressed as Cem Ersever—a figure associated with JİTEM and unsolved murders—during a festival in Ankara's Keçiören district.
Speaking at the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly, Koçyiğit reacted to the words of Emre Cuşan, who appeared on stage at the "Turkomania Fest" event held in Keçiören, Ankara: "He is remembered with white Toros cars. I was going to bring a white Toros today, but there were none left."
“YOU CANNOT SANCTIFY THIS DARK PAST”
Koçyiğit stated that white Toros cars are synonymous with unsolved murders and disappearances, and said: “The symbolism of white Toros, which is identified with the blood of thousands, unsolved murders, and the endless cries of mothers, can be displayed on a festival stage in this country. Who has the right to sanctify this country's dark past and rub salt on the societal wound?”
“AN INVESTIGATION MUST BE LAUNCHED IMMEDIATELY”
Koçyiğit emphasized that action should be taken against the organizers of the event and the individual who used the expressions on stage, stating, “An investigation should be launched immediately regarding this event, which legitimizes the mentality that glorifies massacres under the guise of culture and art.”
The DEM Party deputy also said: “Those who turn a blind eye to this hate speech are as responsible as those who uttered those words. We will not let go of this scandal.”
PERVİN BULDAN: WE WILL FOLLOW UP
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Pervin Buldan also said in her speech that Turkey must confront the unsolved murders and disappearances from its past.
Buldan said: “If such a situation exists, it must definitely be addressed and investigated. White Toros cars did many things to us in our past. Especially unsolved murders, disappearances, and extrajudicial executions are the dark history of this country.” Buldan added: “If such a thing exists, then it must certainly be pursued, and we will follow up.”
