Hungary and Kazakhstan, who failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, faced each other in a friendly match. The host Hungary won the game 3-1 at the Nagyerdei Stadium in Debrecen. However, an incident on the sidelines overshadowed the match.
OVERHEAD CAMERA CRASHES TO THE GROUND IN AN INSTANT
While the match was ongoing, one of the broadcast cameras attached to the stadium roof fell right next to the touchline. The camera shattered as it hit the ground with a loud noise, causing brief panic among the players and officials on the field.
A DISASTER AVERTED
The fact that no player or official was in the area where the camera fell prevented a potential disaster. It was learned that the cameraman working on the sidelines also survived the accident without injury.
REFEREE STOPS THE GAME
After the incident, the match referee stopped the game. Following the officials entering the field to clean up the shattered equipment, the match resumed from where it left off.
HUNGARY WON THE MATCH
The goals that brought victory to Hungary in the match came from Dominik Szoboszlai, Andras Schafer, and Rajmund Toth. Kazakhstan's only goal was scored by Sergiy Maliy.
