The Israeli army captured the strategic Beaufort Ridge north of the Litani River in Lebanon, where it has expanded ground attacks despite the ceasefire.
While Israel expands its illegal occupation in Lebanon, the world remains silent. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the capture of the Beaufort Ridge in the Nabatieh region of southern Lebanon.
"WE CAPTURED THE FORTRESS, FIGHTING CONTINUES"
In his statement, Katz said, "Under the direction of Prime Minister Netanyahu and on my instruction, the Israeli army has expanded its maneuver in Lebanon, crossed the Litani River, and captured the Beaufort Ridge, one of the most important strategic points for the defense of the Galilee communities and ensuring the security of our forces."
The Israeli minister stated that the operation was conducted secretly and also emphasized that fighting is still ongoing; efforts to weaken Hezbollah and secure Israel's northern border will continue. Israeli media also broadcast images showing the Israeli flag and the Golani Brigade flag flying over Beaufort Castle.
"IDF LAUNCHED AN OPERATION IN THE BEAUFORT RIDGE AND SALUKI VALLEY AREA DAYS AGO"
A statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, "The IDF launched an operation a few days ago in the Beaufort Ridge and Saluki Valley area in Lebanon to eliminate terrorist infrastructure, neutralize terrorists, and remove direct threats to Israeli civilians. The operation focuses on establishing operational control in the Beaufort Ridge and Saluki Valley area, while also aiming to weaken Hezbollah and eliminate the terrorist infrastructure established in the ridge area under Iranian direction." The Israeli army claimed in the statement that Hezbollah directs its military and combat operations from the Beaufort Ridge and has carried out numerous attacks from there.
In the statement, which noted that Israeli forces crossed the Litani River, it was said, "The IDF is expanding its operations towards Hezbollah targets north of the river."
EGYPT'S SUPPORT FOR LEBANON
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, in a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, reiterated Cairo's solidarity with Lebanon. Abdelatty emphasized that Israel must withdraw from all Lebanese territory, stating that any violation of the country's sovereignty is a violation of international law. Also expressing support for the Lebanese army, Abdelatty said that only the state should possess weapons in the country, and no entity, including Hezbollah, should be armed.
