High construction engineer, architect, and earthquake expert Yoshinori Moriwaki interpreted Turkey's active fault map. Indicating the provinces with high earthquake risk and relatively lower risk, Moriwaki particularly drew attention to four regions. As a guest on a YouTube channel, Yoshinori Moriwaki stated, "Earthquakes in Turkey can create a domino effect and sometimes can even reverse." According to Yoshinori Moriwaki, Kırklareli, Konya, Niğde, and Karaman are among the relatively safer provinces in terms of earthquakes. THE SAFEST DISTRICTS OF ISTANBULIn Istanbul, districts such as Ataşehir, Beşiktaş, Şişli, and İstinye, which are on solid ground, far from the sea, and at higher elevations, are relatively safer in terms of earthquakes. ALSO LISTED DANGEROUS AREASMoriwaki classified Kahramanmaraş, Elazığ, Hatay, and the southwestern branch of the Eastern Anatolia line as among Turkey's most dangerous earthquake regions. Stating that earthquakes can progress with a domino effect and sometimes can even reverse, Moriwaki said that Bingöl-Karlıova, Muş, Bitlis, and the Aegean Region should also be monitored closely. He noted that the fault line in İzmir is short and thin, and therefore a major earthquake is not expected, but frequent earthquakes may occur. "EARTHQUAKE EXPECTATION DOES NOT SURPRISE US"Emphasizing that the period for a major earthquake in Istanbul has elapsed, Yoshinori Moriwaki said, "There were major earthquakes in Istanbul in 1509 and 1766. There was a 257-year gap between these two events. When the same period is calculated, it reaches the year 2023." Stating that energy accumulation continues, Moriwaki added, "Therefore, the expectation of an earthquake does not surprise us."
