A legal regulation is needed in the Parliament for approximately 2.5 million retirees with a base salary below 10,000 lira to receive a raise in July. However, if the Parliament goes on vacation on July 1, these retirees will face the risk of receiving no raise at all. All eyes are now on the Parliament's decision regarding the vacation.
Retirees are focused on the inflation data for June, which will be announced on July 3. With this figure, the increase for retirees and civil servants will become clear. However, according to SGK regulations, increases are only applied to the base salary.
FOR 2.5 MILLION RETIREES TO RECEIVE AN INCREASE...
Approximately 2.5 million retirees, whose base salary is below 10,000 lira and who receive 14,469 lira with Treasury support, will not see an increase in their salary in July. For this group to receive an increase, a legal regulation needs to be made in the Parliament.
MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT NEED TO POSTPONE THEIR HOLIDAY
However, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will go on holiday on July 1. If the members of parliament do not postpone the holiday, the regulation will be shelved, and millions of retirees will face a zero increase in July. During this period, when retirees are struggling to make ends meet, they are calling on the government to quickly implement the regulation before the holiday.
