The 60th of the 'Defending the Will of the Nation' rallies organized by the CHP every week in a different province of Turkey was held in the Şişli district of Istanbul.

REMOVED FROM THE ESPRESSOLAB BOYCOTT LIST

Speaking to the crowd gathered in the rally square, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced that they have removed the famous coffee chain EspressoLab, which came to the agenda during the boycott process, from the list. Özel also stated that as a result of the discussions, the profits obtained from the university branches of the brand would be transferred to the 19 March Fund established for humanitarian aid.

"THE APPRECIATION IS FOR THE YOUNG"

Özel announced the development with the following words: "When we said boycott, a demand arose. They said that a coffee chain (EspressoLab) came to the campuses, chained the coffees, and raised the prices. They wanted to talk to us, we directed them to the youth. The revenue of that coffee chain has dropped to 1/10 on campuses and throughout the country. They lowered the prices on campuses, but the youth did not accept it. They said that wherever we are on campus, we are transferring all our profits to the fund created for students affected on 19 March as scholarships for those whose salaries have been cut. As the CHP, we have removed them from the corporate boycott list. The appreciation is for the young. We will continue to protest against those who look at us sideways."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The process that started with the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu as part of the 'corruption' and 'terror' investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and continued with his arrest and removal from office, saw CHP Chairman Özgür Özel speaking to the crowd gathered in front of the İBB building in Saraçhane, where he announced a boycott list that included the famous coffee chain EspressoLab.

Özel had said in his speech on March 24: "I love all kinds of coffee. I love Turkish coffee, filter coffee, all of them. Drink whichever you like, but do not drink it from EspressoLab! We will not visit EspressoLab on campus, we will not drink their coffee. The executives of the mainstream media should get a coffee, think it over until the end of the speech. I love Turkish coffee, filter coffee very much, I love all kinds of it, I recommend you to drink whichever you like, but do not drink it from EspressoLab. From now on, we will not visit EspressoLab, we will not drink their coffees."
