DRUM MASTER ADEM GÖÇER HAS PASSED AWAY
Adem Göçer, a 67-year-old drum master who fell ill about 3 months ago and received treatment first in Kırşehir and then in İzmir, was brought to Kaman district of Kırşehir by his relatives yesterday. Göçer, who passed away at home, is expected to be buried in Kaman tomorrow.
HE RECEIVED HIS AWARD FROM ERDOĞAN
Göçer received the "Living Human Treasure Award" in 2020 from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Starting his drumming career by hitting a stove pipe, tin, and plastic barrels in his childhood, Göçer made efforts to pass this art on to his son and grandson, ensuring its continuation from generation to generation, while also winning hearts with the humility, which is one of the most important characteristics of Abdal masters.
Göçer, who is the second Kırşehirli to be awarded the "Living Human Treasure Award" after Neşet Ertaş, became a role model for young people by performing his art at weddings and events. The Bozlak master, who joined the Masters Music and Dance Group established in 2001 under the Kırşehir Culture and Tourism Directorate upon the recommendation of the famous folk poet Neşet Ertaş, played the drum from 2005 onwards and performed his art in concerts in many countries, including Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, France, Belgium, and Thailand.
Göçer, who participated in countless concerts across Turkey to promote and preserve Abdal culture, continued to showcase his drumming at weddings and events despite his advancing age.
