One of the longest-running productions in Turkish television history, Arka Sokaklar, has ended its screen journey. The series' screenwriter, Ozan Yurdakul, announced via his social media account that D Media and Kanal D have decided to terminate the project for the new season. Stating that the 20-year adventure started by the late Türker İnanoğlu in 2006 has come to an end, Yurdakul expressed their sorrow over not being able to bid a proper farewell to the screens after 751 weeks of broadcasting.
A notable announcement has been made regarding Arka Sokaklar, one of the longest-running series in Turkish television history. The series' screenwriter, Ozan Yurdakul, shared on his social media account that D Media and Kanal D have decided not to continue the project for the new season.
751 EPISODES OVER 20 YEARS
In his post, which also included emotional expressions, Yurdakul stated that the Arka Sokaklar adventure, initiated by the late Türker İnanoğlu in 2006, has thus come to an end. Yurdakul expressed that the series, which remained on screens for approximately 20 years and 751 weeks, could not bid farewell to its audience as it deserved, and thanked everyone who contributed to the project and the viewers.
"SHOULD HAVE BID FAREWELL PROPERLY"
Ozan Yurdakul included the following statements in his announcement:
"As is known; our project, which came to life under the roof of Erler Film from 2006 to 2022, continued with the production of D Media for the following three years and completed its 20th season.
In the schedule when we were about to start preparations for the new season, we faced uncertainty about whether the series would continue. The final decision made by our producer D Media and our broadcaster Kanal D, evaluating current conditions, was not to continue the project.
Therefore; this adventure, started by the late Türker İnanoğlu in 2006, has unfortunately come to an end.
For 20 years, aside from existing on its own terms in the screen competition, ARKA SOKAKLAR also witnessed recent history and a period of Turkey; of course, it should have been able to bid its audience a proper farewell; unfortunately, that was not possible.
We are certainly saddened by this. However, we are also proud that we kept this adventure alive for 751 weeks.
We thank everyone who has contributed in front of and behind the camera, in broadcasting and production, and most of all, our audience.
