As a result of the investigation regarding the unofficial sword oath ceremony at the Military Academy on August 30, the lieutenants who acted in an organized manner, along with personnel who had intent, fault, negligence, or responsibility, were referred to the High Disciplinary Board (YDB) in accordance with Article 20, paragraph c of the TSK Disciplinary Law No. 6413. It was noted that among those referred to discipline were the acting battalion commander, company commander, and battalion commander.
As a result of the investigation and disciplinary process carried out with great care and sensitivity, the lieutenants who acted in an organized manner, along with other personnel who had intent, fault, negligence, or responsibility, were referred to the YDB under the "c" clause of Article 20 of the TSK Disciplinary Law, which states: "Engaging in behaviors that obstruct service: Engaging in attitudes and behaviors that would harm the reputation of the state and the Turkish Armed Forces or committing acts that constitute serious crimes or disciplinary violations."
THEY APPLIED 7 TIMES
According to a report by Milliyet, it was learned that the lieutenants applied 7 times for the sword oath ceremony, but their requests were not accepted by the commander. Nevertheless, the lieutenants' performance of the sword ceremony was interpreted as 'if you do not allow us to take the sword oath in the official ceremony, we will read it in the alternative ceremony.' This was noted as a sign of indiscipline. It was learned that the number of lieutenants referred to discipline was below 10. It was emphasized that the lieutenants were not punished for saying 'We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal,' and that the investigation and inquiry had no relation to the text read or its content.
