78-year-old Donald Trump finished the election ahead by defeating his Democratic rival Kamala Harris in 26 states, primarily in swing states North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. Trump will be the 47th president of the country at the inauguration ceremony in January 2025. Harris, who lost the presidential election held on November 5 in the U.S., gave a speech to her supporters on the campus of Howard University in Washington. Acknowledging that she lost the presidential election to her Republican rival Trump, Harris said, "We need to accept the results of this election. I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I also told him and his team that we would assist in ensuring that this transition of power occurs peacefully." Kamala Harris stated, "The important thing is not to give up, not to stop trying, we will continue to fight." "NO GIVING UP, CONTINUE TO FIGHT"In her speech acknowledging the election defeat, Kamala Harris continued her statements as follows: As a principle of Americans, we respect these results. If we do not, we cannot say we have democracy. We need to show this respect not only to the president there but also to our own country. Therefore, while I accept the result of the election here, I want to say that we will continue the fight here. The fight we are waging for freedom is a fight we are waging for all Americans. I will never give up this fight. I will continue this fight to protect the future of Americans here. I will never abandon this fight. I will not give up protecting our streets from gun violence. I will never stop the fight for the rule of law. We will ensure that everyone benefits from these fundamental rights. The important thing is not to give up, not to stop trying, we will continue to fight. Please do not fall into despair. It is time to roll up our sleeves and organize. To protect our freedom and justice here. Know that we are together. Throughout my career, I have seen people in pain, I have listened to their stories. The strength and courage in their hearts kept me alive. I fought for them to go through a fair legal process. I supported their courage. I am looking at a very serious history of justice here. It is easier to see the light when it is dark enough. You might say we have entered dark times. But I hope that is not the case.
