The loud explosion heard in the villages of Umutlu and Karakeş in the Görele district of Giresun caused panic among the residents. Following the incident, where some citizens claimed that houses shook and small pieces resembling confetti fell from the sky, gendarmerie teams dispatched to the area launched a comprehensive investigation. It was learned that the object causing the explosion sound might be an unmanned aerial vehicle, but investigations into its origin are ongoing.

A loud explosion sound was heard in the skies of Umutlu and Karakeş villages in the Görele district of Giresun for an as yet undetermined reason.

CITIZENS BECAME NERVOUS, TEAMS WERE PUT ON ALERT

 Nervous citizens reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center after the explosion. Following the report, gendarmerie teams dispatched to the area conducted investigations to determine the source of the explosion sound in and around the village.

While it was learned that no object that could have caused the explosion was found in the initial investigations, it was reported that investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing.

"CONFETTI-LIKE PIECES RAINED FROM THE SKY, SOME HOUSES SHOOK" 

Some citizens, stating that they experienced great panic during the incident, claimed that after the explosion sound, small pieces "resembling confetti pieces" fell from the sky.

Karakeş village headman Nihat Yılmaz said, "We heard a loud explosion sound. We couldn't understand what happened. Some houses in the village shook due to the impact of the explosion. Later, my brother-in-law Mehmet Topçu called me and said pieces like buckshot fell on his house. Upon that, I immediately notified the gendarmerie and came to the scene. The gendarmerie teams also conducted an investigation. They found a few pieces, but no information was given to us about what they were."

ALSO HEARD IN SURROUNDING VILLAGES

Stating that the explosion sound was felt not only in Karakeş and Umutlu villages but also in many surrounding settlements, Yılmaz said, "The explosion sound was also heard from Tirebolu, Kovanpınar, Işıklı, Karlı, and Doğancı villages. Many people living in the region stated that they heard the same sound."

While no official statement has been made regarding the cause of the incident, it was learned that the object causing the explosion was an aerial vehicle, but an investigation into its origin is ongoing.
