"WE BURN AND DESTROY WHAT WE FIND"
Karabulut, who has encountered nearly 100 spells in 15 years, stated that other friends who do this work have faced similar situations, and they also burn and destroy the spells. Karabulut said, "We make gravestones in villages and different regions. We find the spells while making the graves. When we open the grave, correct it, or tie the mold, it comes out after we hit it with one or two shovels. After seeing the spells, we destroy them. If it's paper, we burn it; if it's wood, we break and burn it. When it's a sheep's head, we break it. Generally, we come across these in old cemeteries. We usually see them in the graves of those who died in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. We also see them when we go to districts to make graves. We burn and destroy what we find.
"SPELLS ARE BURIED IN THE GRAVE TO LAST FOREVER"
In our research on why spells are placed in graves, we learned that it is because the effect of the spell is intended to last forever. It is not done for the dead but for the living; the reason for placing it in the grave is just to continue until death. Most of the time, there is paper, and sometimes there are also spoons. A month ago, they cut from the athletes' clothes, wrote on them, and put them in a box. I have been in this job for 15 years and have found 70-80 spells. My other grave-digging friends also find them. They also burn and destroy them like us," he said.
