MAYOR ARRESTED ON BRIBERY CHARGES SUSPENDED FROM DUTY
Following the arrest of Mayor Kemal Çamlıyurt in the Damal district of Ardahan, the Ministry of Interior took action. The Ministry announced that Çamlıyurt has been temporarily suspended from his position as mayor. Kemal Çamlıyurt was arrested by the Hanak Criminal Court of Peace within the scope of the "accepting bribes" charge against him. After the arrest decision, an administrative process was initiated regarding his mayoral office.
ARREST DECISION ISSUED ON OCTOBER 13
The arrest decision regarding Damal Mayor Kemal Çamlıyurt was issued by the Hanak Criminal Court of Peace with its decision dated October 13, 2026, and numbered 2026/15. Following the decision, the Ministry of Interior applied a temporary measure to prevent Çamlıyurt from continuing his duty. In the Ministry's statement, it was stated that the arrest decision was made within the scope of the crime of "accepting bribes".
