TOYS AND CLEANING PRODUCTS INCLUDED IN THE UNSAFE PRODUCT INFORMATION SYSTEM

The "Unsafe Product Information System" published by the Ministry of Trade includes a toy ball product that children and infants play with, due to the reason of "Prohibition of Market Supply and Recall." In the inspections conducted for the product with barcode number 8680731417111, a violation of Article 36/2-b of the "Regulation on the Classification, Labeling, and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures" was detected. This article mandates that safety closure mechanisms are required for chemical products that children can access.

The ministry banned the market supply of the product that threatens consumer safety and decided to recall it.

LABEL INFORMATION IS BEING MONITORED

The General Directorate of Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance, affiliated with the Ministry of Trade, is conducting a meticulous inspection process, especially for products aimed at sensitive groups such as infants and children. While products carrying chemical, physical, and mechanical risks are subjected to detailed analyses, label information is also checked for compliance with regulations. The mandatory information that should be included on products is important for informing consumers.

In the statement, it was emphasized that a "zero tolerance" approach against unsafe products has been adopted and that all measures are being taken to prevent risks in the market with a proactive inspection model. It was highlighted that inspection plans are created based on scientific analyses and risk assessments.

WARNING TO CITIZENS: "CHECK THE LABELS"

In addition to inspections, it was noted that information activities aimed at companies continue without slowing down, and an important warning was also made to citizens. It was stated that consumers must pay attention to label information when purchasing products, and that the aim is to spread this awareness for both their health and the transparency of the market.

The Ministry of Trade also shared the intense interest in the website guvensizurun.ticaret.gov.tr, where unsafe product notifications are shared. The site, which has received over 5.5 million visits to date, allows citizens to track suspicious products.

Finally, the ministry shared the message: "We are resolutely continuing our inspection policy, which is based on consumer health and a safe environment in the domestic market. We will continue our efforts to create a transparent and verifiable market structure where our citizens can shop safely."
