Municipal employees in the Efeler district of Aydın have been receiving only a quarter of their salaries for the past 11 months. Workers who rebelled against this situation decided to go on strike. Mayor Anıl Yetişkin, using the Social Security Institution (SGK) as an excuse, said, "There is no money, continue the protest." While the repercussions of this incident continue, Yetişkin's spending on an event he organized for Valentine's Day on February 14 drew attention.

Employees of the EFEBEL company, owned by Efeler Municipality, have not been able to bring bread home for 11 months. Workers, who claim that their salaries have been underpaid for 11 months and that only 8-10 thousand lira has been deposited, have started a strike.
USED THE DEBT TO SGK AS AN EXCUSE
After the salary crisis, Efeler Mayor Anıl Yetişkin came to the construction site to try to convince the workers. Citing the 308 million TL debt to SGK as an excuse, Mayor Yetişkin stated, "The Tax Office had placed a lien on our accounts for a 60 million TL debt. For a debt that can be divided into a maximum of 36 months, they only made a 4-month installment. The 80 million TL that was supposed to come to us has only been 51 million TL."
"THIS WAS DONE BY MY COLLEAGUES"
Yetişkin stated that they are trying to complete the salaries but have not been successful, saying, "In the last transactions, our colleagues placed a lien on our accounts, and lien notifications were sent to the board members. This was done by my colleagues; not by a foreigner. We were complained about for not paying the differences to SGK under the leadership of some of our colleagues."
"THERE'S NO MONEY TODAY, CONTINUE YOUR PROTEST"
Yetişkin, who said he is fighting against the SGK debt, stated, "I am currently facing the insurance and undergoing an inspection. I am working to pay your salaries without making any payments to anyone. But I cannot promise. There is no money today, so continue your protest."
NO MONEY FOR WORKERS BUT PLENTY FOR ENTERTAINMENT
CHP Mayor Yetişkin, who cannot pay the workers' salaries, drew attention with the Valentine's Day event he organized on February 14. At the event where a concert was held, a cocktail party took place, and confetti was thrown, Mayor Yetişkin performed a dance show.
In the district where garbage collection services have been disrupted, piles of garbage have formed in the streets.
