Before the Party Assembly meeting chaired by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in CHP, 28 members supporting Özgür Özel resigned. With the resignations, it is assessed that both the Party Assembly and the Central Executive Committee elected from within it have fallen under Article 24/3 of the Party Bylaws. While this step brings the party one step closer to the congress process as required by the bylaws, the names of those who resigned have been revealed.
The Group Chairman and Deputy Group Chairmen stated that they were officially and properly elected and processed into the system. I do not want to think that he will back down from this." he replied.
"WE WILL COMPLY WITH WHATEVER DECISION ÖZGÜR ÖZEL MAKES"
CHP Aydın Deputy Süleyman Bülbül, in his statement to journalists in Parliament, argued that no decision contrary to the party's bylaws can be made.
Stating that the party bylaws are the "constitution of CHP," Bülbül said, "You will not implement the extraordinary congress article of the bylaws, then you will come out and talk about purification. Purification happens within the law. It is not about leaving your comrades in prison captivity. Purification is resisting together with them."
When reminded of the allegations that "some CHP deputies will move to a newly established party," Bülbül said, "We are CHP members. We have roots based on the National Forces, coming from the CHP party. As our 2nd President İsmet İnönü said, 'A new world is being established, Turkey will take its place.' We will comply with whatever decision our elected General Chairman Özgür Özel and our headquarters make." he said.
