The opposition is now setting its sights on Manbij: We will completely clear it out.

01.12.2024 22:00

Opposition forces led by the Syrian National Army have captured Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, and most recently, Tal Rifaat. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of the Interim Government, Abdurrahman Mustafa, announced their new targets. Mustafa stated, "We will conduct operations in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods, which have been under occupation since 2016, and we will, God willing, completely cleanse Aleppo and the northern part of Aleppo from the PKK terrorist organization. Next in line is Manbij."

The Bashar al-Assad regime is going through tough times in Syria. Armed opposition groups, led by the Syrian National Army, have made significant gains in the operation they launched a few days ago. Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, and most recently Tel Rifat have been reclaimed from the PKK/YPG terrorist organization that Assad surrendered to while fleeing.

"THE LIBERATION OF TEL RIFAT IS VERY IMPORTANT"

As the advance of the armed opposition continues, what they will do next has become a matter of curiosity. Abdurrahman Mustafa, the Prime Minister of the Syrian Interim Government, stated in an interview with Habertürk that the next target is Manbij. Mustafa said: "Today is a very important day for us. The liberation of Tel Rifat is very important for us. Civilians were targeted in the Euphrates Shield region and the Olive Branch Operation area. Now, as you know, the entire population of Tel Rifat has been displaced.

"MANBIJ IS NEXT"

With the liberation of Tel Rifat today, the Syrian National Army, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, has completely taken over Tel Rifat in one day, thank God. Hopefully, we will carry out operations in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods in Aleppo, which have been under occupation since 2016, and we will completely cleanse the PKK terrorist organization from Aleppo and its northern regions. Manbij is next.

We have no issues with the people there at all. We do not make any ethnic, religious, or discriminatory distinctions. This is merely an operation against the terrorist organization. Today is very important for us. We have actually freed ourselves from this terrorist scourge."

CONFLICTS IN ALEPPO AND IDLIB

On November 27, clashes began between Assad regime forces and regime-opposing armed groups in the western countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syria. On November 27-28, regime-opposing armed groups rapidly advanced from the western countryside of Aleppo towards the center, and on November 30, they had captured a large part of the center. The armed groups took control of the Khan Shaykhun district on November 30, establishing dominance throughout Idlib.
