Armed opposition groups that ended the 61-year Ba'ath regime in Syria have completely taken control of the country, while Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali expressed his readiness to cooperate with a transitional government following Assad's escape from the country. The footage of Ghazi al-Jalali leaving his home and heading to a hotel in Damascus to hand over power to the opposition has drawn attention.
On November 27, Friday, armed opposition groups that launched an operation against the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria captured the capital Damascus late last night after taking Aleppo, Idlib, Tel Rifaat, Hama, and Homs within just a few days without encountering any resistance.
"THE ASSAD REGIME HAS FALLEN"
According to breaking news reported by Reuters, as Syrian army forces abandoned the International Airport in the capital Damascus, which the opposition largely took control of, the Syrian Army Command informed its officers that the Assad regime had fallen.
"I WILL SUPPORT THE TRANSFER OF GOVERNMENT"
After Assad's departure from the country, Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali made a critical statement saying, "I am at home, I will support the transfer of government. I call for the protection of state institutions."
WALKED OUT WITH ARMED OPPOSITION
Following his call, images of Ghazi al-Jalali leaving his home to transfer power to the opposition and heading to a hotel in Damascus drew attention. The footage of Jalali leaving his home flanked by armed opposition members went viral on social media.
