After 19-year-old Semih Çelik brutally murdered two women, the exhibition where famous actor Uraz Kaygılaroğlu posed in the past came to the fore and drew criticism. Following the increasing backlash, Kaygılaroğlu made a statement apologizing and later spoke on journalist Nevşin Mengü's YouTube channel: "I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY"The exhibition was not mine. It was another artist's exhibition; I was just part of one of their works. It was exhibited on April 16, and it was my then-girlfriend's first solo exhibition. I could not foresee where the reactions would lead, that they would escalate to femicides," he said. Emphasizing that his statement was not accepted by the Turkish public, the actor continued: "I experienced a mental breakdown. I could not predict how much it would trigger the dynamics and wounds of society, which is why I apologized afterward, but as far as I understand, this apology was also not accepted. I want to say that we are very sorry, especially on behalf of both Ayşenur's and İkbal's families and loved ones, for all of Turkey. If the end of this means that I and other third parties like me are excluded from society and should not appear again, I would gladly accept that wholeheartedly. I do not have to go on stage or appear on television; I can do another job. I am also concerned for my safety as a third party, as I am being targeted. The source of the problem is not elsewhere; systematically, our names are somehow being pumped through social media. We are talking about a situation where the guilty are being targeted in a witch hunt. I have painted my nails, worn a skirt, kissed another man for a role, and appeared somewhere. THE OWNER OF THE EXHIBITION MADE A STATEMENTThe owner of the exhibition and Uraz Kaygılaroğlu's ex-girlfriend Sayna Soleimanpour broke her silence with a statement on social media. "I received information that two of my works, which have nothing to do with these events, were circulated as part of a lynch campaign initiated by troll accounts," said Sayna Soleimanpour. "Accounts making speculative and defamatory posts about me are being identified, and criminal complaints are being filed against them. During the exhibition, we had already provided the necessary explanations to those curious about my works by organizing interviews and Q&A events. In response to my work being used as material for baseless speculations and agenda manipulations, I will make a post in the coming days where I will explain the content of my works in detail," she said.
