The lifeless body of Ziya Kiret, who lost his life in a collapse at a private mine in the Gelik district of Zonguldak's Kilimli, was retrieved from under the rubble after approximately 8 hours of work. The miner, who was taken to the ambulance with his boots on, was transferred to the morgue, and his death has caused great sorrow in the region. It was learned that Kiret had retired but continued to work to support his two children's education.

Ziya Kiret, who lost his life in a collapse at a private mine in Zonguldak, was pulled out from under the rubble after hours of hopeful waiting. The funeral of the 60-year-old miner, who was taken to the morgue without removing his boots, plunged both his family and colleagues into mourning.

THE TRAGEDY OCCURRED DURING CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE WORK

The incident occurred in a licensed coal mine located in the Dağbaca area of Gelik town, which is part of the Kilimli district of Zonguldak. During cleaning and maintenance work, three workers who were trying to repair a previous collapse in the ventilation shaft were trapped under a new collapse.

Upon receiving a report around 2:00 PM, TTK rescue teams, along with AFAD, UMKE, health, and gendarmerie teams, were dispatched to the area.

ONE INJURED WORKER WAS RESCUED

Ismet Kabuk, one of the workers trapped under the rubble, was rescued injured about two hours after the incident and taken to the hospital. It was learned that Kabuk was discharged after treatment and that his health condition was good.

BAD NEWS CAME IN SUCCESSION

As a result of intense efforts, the teams reached Veysel Oruçoğlu around 9:00 PM. It was determined during the checks that Oruçoğlu had lost his life.

As a result of the search efforts that the teams continued with hope, the lifeless body of Ziya Kiret was pulled out from among the coal piles around 10:30 PM.

THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION IS CONTINUING

Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu stated at the scene that the rescue efforts were immediately initiated after the report and said:

"One of our three workers trapped under the rubble was rescued, but unfortunately, we lost two of our brothers. The search and rescue operations have been completed, and the area has been secured. A committee of experts is following the process upon the instruction of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The criminal investigation will continue."
