A 43-year-old man who presented to the hospital with complaints of bloating, shortness of breath, and fatigue had a 4-kilogram mass detected in his abdomen, which was removed in a 3.5-hour surgery. The rare mass, which was growing towards the intestines, was sent to the pathology laboratory for examination.
Medeni Çelik, a 43-year-old man living in Pay Neighborhood of Erciş district in Van, applied to Van Training and Research Hospital due to abdominal swelling, shortness of breath, and weakness. During the examinations conducted here, a mass was detected in Çelik's abdomen, and he was taken for surgery.
4 KILOGRAM MASS REMOVED FROM HIS ABDOMEN
In the surgery performed by General Surgery Specialist Prof. Dr. Sebahattin Çelik and a team of 10, a mass measuring 17 centimeters in length and weighing 4 kilograms was removed from Çelik's abdominal area.
The rare mass, which grew towards the intestines and included the right lung and diaphragm on the right side of the abdomen, was sent to the pathology laboratory for examination.
"THE MASS WAS LARGE AND AGGRESSIVE"
Prof. Dr. Çelik stated that they detected a mass weighing 4 kilograms in the patient's examinations. Describing how the mass grew very quickly and aggressively, Çelik provided the following information:
"The patient applied to our hospital with complaints of abdominal pain, swelling, shortness of breath, and weakness. We performed the surgery with our colleagues from the departments of thoracic surgery and urology. The mass was 4 kilograms in weight, located on the right side of the abdomen, growing towards the intestines and including the right lung and diaphragm. The mass we sent for examination to the pathology laboratory was large and aggressive. We successfully performed the surgery. We will wait for the pathology result. The health condition of our patient is good. We will discharge him tomorrow."
