Using the "stamp duty" physically obtained when traveling abroad will end as of January 1.

The Draft General Communiqué on the Exit Tax for Traveling Abroad has been published on the website of the Revenue Administration (GİB) and opened to the public for comments. The draft was prepared within the scope of paper savings measures and green transformation.

IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE TO PAY ONLINE

The exit tax for traveling abroad can be paid in exchange for a receipt at tax offices, property directorates, customs offices, treasury accounting directorates, authorized banks, and PTT counters before leaving the country. The exit tax can also be deposited through GİB's Digital Tax Office and mobile applications, as well as through the internet banking and mobile banking applications of authorized banks.

EXPIRATION DATE IS APPROACHING

With the enactment of the regulation, as of January 1, 2025, the method of paying the tax with the "exit tax stamp" will be abolished. However, the exit tax stamps obtained for 500 Turkish liras, which are valid until the end of 2024, will remain valid until January 10. With this regulation, the "tax stamp" given after the payment of the tax, usually at airports and ports, will become a thing of the past.

Payments made electronically can be checked through the system, and the amount of the tax will be recorded in the system upon exit.
