In a messaging app, a young woman stood up to her boyfriend’s condition—“My mother saw you at the shopping mall; if we’re going to start a relationship, you’ll cover up”—by saying “I decide what I wear,” then blocked her boyfriend and cut off communication.

A screenshot of a messaging conversation shared on social media has brought debates about clothing restrictions and family interference in relationships back to the agenda. In a woman's messaging with her boyfriend, it was seen that she ended the relationship after an attempt was made to interfere with her clothing style.

"IF WE ARE GOING TO START A RELATIONSHIP..."

In the dialogue reflected in the screenshots, a person named Sinan stated that his mother had seen the young woman at a shopping mall and said she was dressed revealingly, and he was seen to impose the condition "If we are going to start a relationship, you will cover up and dress modestly." The young woman reacted to the person who also tried to prohibit wearing skirts and leggings, emphasizing that her clothing choices were her own decision.

"I DECIDE WHAT I WEAR," SHE SAID AND BLOCKED HIM

Stating that her boyfriend and his mother could not interfere in her clothing choices, the young woman expressed her determination with the words "This is my life. I decide what I wear.
