Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the 29-kilometer Korgun-Kurşunlu Road, whose construction has been completed in Çankırı, has been opened to service. Thanks to the new road, built with bituminous hot mix pavement, the travel time between the two points has dropped from 45 minutes to 24 minutes. Minister Uraloğlu stated that the new route provides a time saving of 21 minutes in transportation.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu opened the Korgun-Kurşunlu Road in Çankırı. In his statement here, Minister Uraloğlu said that Çankırı, which is a transition point between Central Anatolia and the Black Sea, has a strategic position in Türkiye's logistics and economic development.
Minister Uraloğlu stated that Çankırı is one of Türkiye's shining stars in alternative tourism activities with its natural wonder salt mines dating back to the Hittite period, thermal and mineral springs, Sultan Süleyman Mosque, Çivitçioğlu Madrasas, Hüyük Underground City and other historical and cultural values. Uraloğlu continued his words as follows:
“By making this star shine even brighter, we continue our transportation investments without slowing down in order to add a strong breath to Çankırı's future and carry its logistics and tourism potential to the top. Today, together with you, we are experiencing the joy and pride of opening the Korgun-Kurşunlu Road to service. Under the leadership of our esteemed President, we say 'No stopping, continue on the road.'”
"WE BUILT THE KORGUN-KURŞUNLU ROAD 29 KILOMETERS LONG"
Uraloğlu, who said that today they have also brought together the fertile plains of Kurşunlu with the industrial power of Korgun, and Çankırı with much stronger tomorrows, continued his words as follows:
“We built the Korgun-Kurşunlu Road as a 29-kilometer-long road with bituminous hot mix pavement. We completed 3.4 kilometers of our road as a divided road and 25.6 kilometers as a two-way road with safety lanes. Within the scope of our project, we put into service the 47-meter Kurşunlu Grade-Separated Junction, 3 bridges with a total length of 89 meters, and 1 steel culvert of 33 meters. By raising the physical and geometric standards of the road on the route passing through a high-altitude and challenging geography, we increased transportation safety and offered road users faster and more comfortable transportation opportunities. By increasing the platform width of the road from 7 meters to 12 meters, we also raised the design speed from 50 km per hour to 70 km per hour.”
TRAVEL TIME DROPPED TO 24 MINUTES
Emphasizing that they increased transportation safety by applying 66 thousand square meters of steel mesh in sections with steep rocky and steep terrain, Uraloğlu said, “By turning the Kurşunlu Junction, located at the first kilometers of the project, into a grade-separated junction and passing the railway underpass on the route with a steel culvert, we ensured smooth traffic. With all these works, we shortened the route length by 2 kilometers to 29 kilometers and reduced the travel time by 21 minutes from 45 minutes to 24 minutes. Thus, we will provide annual savings of 560 million lira in total, 381 million lira from time and 179 million lira from fuel. We will also contribute to the protection of nature by reducing the carbon emissions of vehicles that harm the environment by 8,800 tons.” he spoke.
Uraloğlu stated that by making the Korgun-Kurşunlu Road more preferable in transportation, they ensured that a vehicle departing from Çankırı safely connects to Kurşunlu and the D-100 State Road via Korgun, and said, “In this way, we shortened the route in this section by approximately 40 km. In summary, this investment of ours, beyond providing safe and comfortable transportation, will carry Çankırı's agriculture, tourism and trade potential to the future with a much stronger infrastructure and will make a great long-term contribution to our regional development.”
