Elena Dyachenko, a 57-year-old Russian citizen who met 56-year-old İbrahim Girgin, a welder working in the Koçarlı district of Aydın, through social media, converted to Islam in Turkey, where she came with the aim of marriage. At the conversion ceremony held at the District Mufti's Office, the woman, who shed tears while the Quran was being recited, was given the name "Emine". The couple will marry after completing the paperwork.
Russian citizen Elena Dyachenko, who came to the Koçarlı district of Aydın for the purpose of marriage, chose Islam.
THEY MET ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Elena Dyachenko (57), who met İbrahim Girgin (56), a welder in Koçarlı, via social media, came to Turkey for the purpose of marriage.
After researching the Islamic religion, Dyachenko decided to become a Muslim.
A "conversion ceremony" was held for Dyachenko, who applied to the District Mufti's Office with Girgin.
SHE COULD NOT HOLD BACK HER TEARS AT THE CEREMONY
At the ceremony attended by District Mufti Kazım Ünsal, after the Quran was recited, the woman was given information about the Islamic religion.
Dyachenko shed tears while the Quran was being recited.
The woman, who recited the Kalima Shahada in the presence of witnesses, was given the name "Emine".
Later, Dyachenko was given a "Certificate of Conversion," and the Quran and various religious publications were presented to her.
Making a statement to journalists, Dyachenko said that she was very happy to have chosen Islam.
Girgin also stated that he was at peace and happy, and that they would get married after completing the paperwork.
