A lawsuit has been filed against six individuals, including the doctor who performed the procedure, in connection with the death of 59-year-old Melike Çiftçi, who died after getting hip fillers in Izmir. The indictment stated that the procedure was carried out at a training center that did not qualify as an operating room, and that Çiftçi died due to fat embolism caused by the filler procedure. It was also revealed that the same doctor had previously been sentenced to 6 years in prison for a similar death case.
A new development has occurred in the investigation into the death of Melike Çiftçi, who lost her life last year after an aesthetic procedure in the Karşıyaka district of İzmir. The indictment prepared by the Karşıyaka Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been accepted by the court.
In the indictment, the doctor Ö.Ö., who performed the hip filler procedure, and his sibling K.Ö., the owner of the workplace, face a prison sentence of 2 years 8 months to 9 years for the crime of "causing death by conscious negligence." Additionally, 4 employees at the workplace are requested to be sentenced from 6 months to 5 years for "harboring a criminal."
CAUSE OF DEATH: FAT EMBOLISM
In the autopsy report included in the case file, it was stated that Melike Çiftçi's death occurred due to fat embolism developing as a result of the hip filler procedure. The indictment emphasized that the procedure was carried out at an aesthetic and beauty specialization course that does not have the characteristics of an operating room and lacks permission for such operations.
CAMERA RECORDS ADDED TO FILE
Security camera footage was also examined within the scope of the investigation. The recordings show Melike Çiftçi entering the workplace, then after falling ill, she is carried out by employees and placed into a vehicle. The prosecutor's office assessed that the employees at the workplace gave contradictory statements about the incident and tried to conceal the procedure.
SAME DOCTOR PREVIOUSLY TRIED
According to the information in the indictment, it was stated that doctor Ö.Ö. was previously tried in the case of Kübra Boyraz, who died after a hip filler operation in Istanbul, and was sentenced to 6 years in prison for the crime of "causing death by negligence."
