In Turkey's most populous city, the current number of taxis is insufficient. To increase the number, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is launching the first phase of the 'Application-Based Taxi Transportation' project, aimed at adding 2,500 new taxis to the public transportation system. In this context, a tender will be held on February 18, 2025, for 150 new taxi plates.
The tender will take place at the Dr. Mimar Kadir Topbaş Show and Art Center at 10:00 AM. Participants will be able to complete their applications by 12:00 PM on February 17, 2025. Only individual applications will be accepted for the tender, and each person can submit a bid for a maximum of one plate.
PLATE FEE ANNOUNCED
IMM has set the estimated price for each taxi plate at 4 million 250 thousand TL + VAT, while the temporary guarantee fee has been announced as 127 thousand 500 TL. The tender specifications can be obtained from the IMM Public Transportation Services Branch Directorate for 1,000 TL.
CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE TENDER
Individuals applying must submit the required documents completely. The necessary documents include:
* A residence document showing that they reside in Istanbul,
* A valid driver's license,
* A criminal record,
* A receipt showing that the temporary guarantee has been deposited.
Applications will be submitted in person to the IMM Council Branch Directorate, and applications sent by mail, telegram, or fax will not be accepted.
NEW PLATES WILL BE VALID FOR 29 YEARS
The new taxis will be opened for operation for a certain period, creating an alternative to the existing taxi system in Istanbul. Unlike the previously allocated taxi plates that were granted indefinitely, these new taxis will be in use for 29 years.
Additionally, in order to raise public transportation standards in Istanbul, the new taxis will operate under a new design determined by the votes of Istanbul residents.
