After D.D., who said she had been subjected to systematic violence by her spouse in Ankara for years, called for help, the Ministry of Family and Social Services took action. The Ministry announced that the victimized woman will be provided with psychosocial support, guidance, and counseling services, and that all social service mechanisms will be activated. It was also stated that they would intervene in the lawsuit to be filed and closely follow the legal process to ensure the perpetrator receives the deserved punishment.
The footage of a young woman named D.D., living in Ankara, describing how she had been subjected to systematic violence by her husband for 2.5 years, sparked a huge public outcry. The young woman, who said she also experienced violence during her pregnancy, sought help from authorities after the latest attack. A new development has occurred in the case.
The Ministry of Family and Social Services issued a written statement following the footage that surfaced publicly, announcing that all necessary support mechanisms would be activated for the victimized woman.
SHE HAD REPORTED BEING VICTIMIZED DURING PREGNANCY
D.D. stated that she had been subjected to physical violence by her husband for approximately 2.5 years, and that this continued throughout her pregnancy. The young woman said the latest incident occurred on the evening of July 19 at her husband's sister's house, where a fight broke out over a woman's number she saw on his phone, and she was punched in the face.
According to her statement, after the attack, D.D. tried to leave the house with her baby, but the child in her lap was taken by her husband's sister. Left defenseless, the young woman was forced onto the bed and repeatedly beaten. D.D. said her eyebrow burst open and she was covered in blood, and the assault only ended when her husband noticed the flowing blood.
YOUNG CHILD WITNESSED THE VIOLENCE
According to information obtained, the couple's young daughter also witnessed the violent incidents. The trauma experienced by the little child, who saw the blood splattered on them while her mother was being beaten, also caused great sorrow in the public.
After the footage surfaced publicly, many citizens called on authorized institutions to follow up on the incident.
MINISTRY: ALL SUPPORT MECHANISMS WILL BE ACTIVATED
In a statement from the Ministry of Family and Social Services, it was stated that immediately after the footage emerged, provincial directorate teams swiftly took action in coordination with police units.
The statement said: "After the completion of the police statement procedures, our expert teams will provide psychosocial support, guidance, and counseling services to the victimized woman, and all necessary social service mechanisms will be activated without delay."
THEY WILL INTERVENE IN THE CASE
The ministry emphasized that, in line with the principle of "Zero Tolerance to Violence," the legal process will be closely followed to ensure that violence against women is never left unpunished.
The statement continued: "We will intervene in the case to be filed and will follow the process until the end to ensure the perpetrator receives the punishment he deserves. Violence against women is a crime against humanity. No justification can legitimize violence."
