The source of the bad odor that residents have long complained about in Kocaeli's Dilovası district has been identified. Inspections determined that the smell originated from the oil factory owned by İYİ Party Kocaeli Deputy Lütfü Türkkan, and a fine of approximately 1 million lira was imposed on the facility. It was found that the odor was caused by combustion in the silo and the spoilage and heating of soybeans that had been left on site for a long time.

THE SOURCE TURNED OUT TO BE İYİ PARTİ MEMBER TÜRKKAN'S FACTORY: APPROXIMATELY 1 MILLION TL FINE IMPOSED
When it was determined that the source of the bad odor came from Türkkan Yağ A.Ş., owned by İYİ Party Kocaeli Deputy Lütfü Türkkan, a fine of approximately 1 million TL was imposed on the factory.
It was determined that combustion occurred in one of the factory's four silos, and the intense odor formed while the product was taken to the field and intervened with construction equipment. Additionally, it was determined that the high amount of soybeans imported from abroad and the product's prolonged waiting in the field increased odor formation due to spoilage and heating.

On the other hand, in a statement made by Dilovası Municipality, "Regarding the odor emissions that occurred at the oil factory operating in the Dilovası Organized Industrial Zone, our municipality's Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate conducted meticulous field inspections, determinations, and follow-up studies. The determinations made by our teams, the reports prepared, and the documents issued to eliminate the odor problem that our citizens have been intensely exposed to were promptly communicated to the relevant authorized institutions. As a result of the evaluations made by the Kocaeli Governorship Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the necessary administrative and penal actions were implemented within the scope of the relevant legislation. During this process, the necessary support and cooperation were provided by our Kocaeli Governorship Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Dilovası Organized Industrial Zone Directorate, and our Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Department of Environmental Protection and Control. Following the inspections and the penal action, at the current point reached, the problem has been brought under control with the complete removal of the odor source that has been disturbing our citizens for a long time from the field. Even in cases where our municipality does not have direct authority to impose administrative sanctions, our teams continue their determination and follow-up studies in the field; the findings, reports, and documents obtained are promptly communicated to the relevant authorized institutions, primarily the Kocaeli Governorship Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Dilovası Organized Industrial Zone Directorate, and the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Department of Environmental Protection and Control," it was stated.
